Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and a prominent American businessman, has already started operations of his EV manufacturing company, Tesla, in India. Currently, there are two Tesla showrooms in India, located in Mumbai and Delhi. Now, the EV manufacturer is set to open its first Tesla Centre in India. This Tesla Centre will open in India this month, specifically in November. Let’s take a look at the city where this Tesla Centre will be opened.
First Tesla Centre in India
Tesla, the leading EV manufacturer, is going to open its first Tesla Centre in India. The company will be opening this centre in the city of Gurugram. The Tesla Centre will be located in the Arcade Business Park in Gurugram and is set to open on November 26.
It’s worth mentioning that India has become the 50th global market for Tesla. The company has already launched two variants of its Model Y EV in India.
Tesla EV Pricing in India
As for the pricing of Tesla EVs in India, the starting price of the Model Y EV is ₹59.89 lakh. The price of the second variant of the Model Y EV is ₹67.89 lakh. These cars are subject to a 70% import duty, making the Model Y EV the most expensive EV in the world. Compared to the U.S., the prices of these EVs in India are 30% higher.
Tesla Sales in India
According to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), Tesla sold a total of 104 units in retail during September and October. Since its launch, Tesla has received a total of 800 car orders, which is relatively low.
