Starlink News: Elon Musk’s Starlink to Soon Launch Services in India

Starlink’s Satellite Internet Service Is Almost Ready to Launch in India: What Will the Price and Speed Be?

Big news for India’s remote areas where fast internet is still a distant dream. Elon Musk’s satellite internet company, Starlink, is now very close to launching its services in India. The company has received almost all the necessary approvals from the government, and recently, it signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Maharashtra government.

However, the big questions are: when will the service launch, how much will it cost, and what internet speeds will users get? Several leaks have emerged regarding these details, and in this article, we attempt to answer all these questions.

When Will Starlink Launch in India?

Starlink has received most of the approvals required to begin operations in India. Only a few final approvals remain, such as those for the SATCOM gateway and the acquisition of necessary spectrum. These processes may take some more time.

Experts believe that the full-fledged launch of Starlink’s service in India could happen within the next three to four months. This means that we can expect the service to be available between December 2025 and January 2026. This would be a significant step for people who are currently outside the reach of fiber broadband.

How Expensive Will Starlink’s Connection Be?

Now, let’s address the biggest question: price. Satellite internet is a new and expensive technology, so it will likely be more expensive than your current broadband connection. According to leaks, the setup cost for Starlink may range around ₹30,000 or slightly more. This cost will include the necessary hardware like the dish antenna and router.

After the setup, users will need to subscribe to a monthly plan. Leaked reports suggest that Starlink’s monthly plans in India could start at around ₹3,300. It’s also possible that prices may vary slightly depending on different regions.

What Speeds Will Starlink Offer and Who Will Be Able to Get It?

Starlink’s main goal is to bring internet access to remote areas, where the internet speed will feel like a dream come true. It’s expected that Starlink will offer internet speeds ranging from 25 Mbps to 220 Mbps in India.

The basic plans are likely to provide speeds ranging from 25 Mbps to 50 Mbps, which will be sufficient for tasks like video streaming and online classes. The higher-end plans may offer speeds of up to 220 Mbps.

However, not everyone will be able to get a connection initially. The Indian government has set a connection limit for Starlink in the country. According to this limit, Starlink can only offer 20 lakh (2 million) connections in India for now. The company is expected to provide official updates on this matter in the future.
