Now, there’s big news for iPhone users. WhatsApp has released a major update that allows iPhone users to run multiple accounts on the same device. Currently, this feature is being tested in the iOS beta version for a select group of users.
Why is the Multi-Account feature needed?
WAbetainfo, which tracks WhatsApp’s upcoming features, has provided details about this new feature, naming it ‘Multi-Account’. This feature was already available for Android users.
In fact, many people use two different mobile numbers (SIM cards) for personal and professional purposes. Until now, iPhone users didn’t have the option to run both accounts in the same WhatsApp app. They had to use the WhatsApp Business app, which was not a permanent solution. WhatsApp has now solved this problem by introducing the ‘Multi-Account’ feature.
Easier account switching
This new feature is still in the testing phase. Once it rolls out, users will get an account list to switch between their accounts. According to reports, users will be able to easily switch from one number to another by clicking a button near their profile icon or by going into the settings.
However, before using the new account, users will need to add their second number in the settings. Once the login process is completed, you can switch between both accounts without any hassle. WAbetainfo has also shared an image of this upcoming feature, showing the complete process of adding accounts.
Separate settings for each account
WhatsApp has paid special attention to user privacy and preferences in the multi-account feature. Under this feature, each account’s settings and pinned messages will remain separate. This means that whenever you switch accounts in the app, your messages and settings will automatically change according to the selected account.
