A major explosion has occurred in Pakistan. On Tuesday (November 11), a powerful blast took place outside the Islamabad local court. According to Pakistani media reports, at least 12 people have been killed, and 20 to 25 others have been seriously injured. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals. After the blast, a high alert has been issued across Pakistan.
The explosion is believed to have occurred due to a cylinder blast in a car parked in the court complex’s parking area. The loud sound of the explosion was heard from a distance, causing panic in the surrounding areas. According to reports, officials stated that a powerful cylinder explosion occurred in the court complex in the G-11 sector of Islamabad on Tuesday.
Explosion Occurred Amid Heavy Crowd in Court
According to local police, the explosion occurred when there was a heavy crowd in the court complex. Many lawyers and civilians were reportedly injured in the explosion. Police and rescue teams have reached the site, and the area has been cordoned off for public safety. Firefighters were seen controlling the fire that broke out immediately after the blast.
IED Blast Injures 16 Soldiers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Earlier, on Monday, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast targeted a convoy of security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan. At least 16 soldiers were injured. The convoy, which consisted of Pakistani Army and Frontier Corps personnel, was returning from the Loni checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan district when the IED blast occurred late Monday night in Loni village.
Suicide Bombing in South Waziristan
Meanwhile, security officials reported that on Monday, a suicide bomber carried out an attack at the main gate of a cadet college in South Waziristan district, near the Afghan border. The bombing resulted in six injuries. Security officials claimed the attack on Wana Cadet College was allegedly carried out by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a banned militant group.
The Pakistani government had declared Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as a fitna al-Khawarij last year. The term “fitna al-Khawarij” refers to groups involved in violence in Islamic history.
Increase in Terrorist Attacks in Border Areas
There has been a rise in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, particularly in the areas bordering Afghanistan. Most of these attacks have targeted police, officials, and security forces. The Pakistani Army announced on Monday that in two separate encounters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces killed at least 20 Taliban militants.
